Your Questions, Answered.

  • Pelvic floor therapists can help you learn about your pelvic floor and its role in your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.

Pelvic floor therapy can help to decrease the risk and severity of perineal tearing during childbirth, help to maximize your mobility and strength, enhance your body mechanics for the demands of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and educate on optimal breathing techniques, patterns and body position for the activities of parenthood.

  • As soon as you want!

Ashton has seen clients as early as 2-3 days postpartum. Pelvic floor therapy in the immediate postpartum period focuses on body mechanics while holding your baby to decrease back/neck pain, pressure management while moving from sitting to standing, and providing recommendations to promote healing and honoring your postpartum body.

OBs generally give the clearance to return to normal activity at the 6-week check up. This is also a great time to start because we can assess your body and pelvic floor with the increasing demands of daily life.

  • Babies and small children are welcome at Integrative Pelvic Health! It would be great to see how you pick up and hold your kids if that increases your symptoms.

If you are currently nursing, we encourage you to nurse your baby as needed throughout the appointment. This will allow us to made positioning/posture modifications to decrease neck/back pain, if needed.

Real Stories, Real Results

“I am currently 31 weeks pregnant, I started seeing Ashton for pelvic floor therapy prior to this pregnancy. I saw her for urinary leaking while running and pain during intercourse. She was not only able to figure out why I had these issues but correct/improve the issues in 4 sessions. I continued to see her to gain knowledge of how to work out optimally for my pelvic floor and different exercises I could do on my own to prevent regressions and continue working on my specific needs.

Prior to getting pregnant with my third child I ran 3 miles for the first time in 6 years without any leaking. At 31 weeks pregnant I just finished working out and running and still no leaking. Due to my body growing and adapting for baby I’ve had some muscle tightness and pain in different areas.

She has done sessions of myofascial muscle release which has made a world of difference. Ashton is a wealth of knowledge and with her help has allowed me to get back to who I was prior to pregnancy and enjoy the things (working out and running, sneezing or coughing without leaking) I thought I wouldn’t be able to do again.”
